Texas Blood Institute, an affiliate of Oklahoma Blood Institute, provides every drop of blood used by patients in eight hospitals in the Wichita Falls area.
It took just one car wreck in April 2003, to nearly deplete the blood supply in Wichita Falls and totally change the future of blood supply to area hospitals.
Oklahoma Blood Institute was notified of the shortage and immediately sent blood to ensure that patients in need would live another day.
The following June, we formed an affiliate, Texas Blood Institute; and became the sole supplier of blood to patients in Chillicothe Hospital, Clay County Memorial Hospital, Electra Memorial Hospital, Hardeman County Memorial Hospital, Kell West Regional Hospital, Seymour Hospital, United Regional Health Care System and Wilbarger General Hospital.
