Rolling into Wichita Falls

Texas Blood Institute recently added a shiny new bloodmobile. Among its distinctive features are wider aisles to give phlebotomists more work space. The donor seats are adjustable to allow for collection from either arm, depending on donor preference. Private rooms for screening include a light that flashes to signal staff when a donor has completed the process.

Giving Greater

More than 20,000 donors between August and October chose to forgo their donor T-shirts so the Blood Institute could redirect those funds as special gifts to our Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Giving Greater

Children’s Miracle Network hospitals pledge to put children first and keep 100 percent of donations in the community where they were raised. Each year, thousands of families trust the care of their kids to our local children’s hospitals. Our donors show their support by giving blood that may be needed as these little ones battle for their lives. It should be no surprise, then, that so many have given up their donor T-shirts to support children.

Isabelle Radcliffe

Blood recipient, Isabelle Ratcliff, says, "thank you," to a donor.

Little Survivor Gives Thanks

Last December, Isabelle Ratcliff was just returning home for the holidays. The eight-year-old, Mustang girl had spent months in the hospital battling leukemia. But as her strength began to return earlier this year, she and her mother took a very important outing. The two visited an Oklahoma City donor center to give thanks to donors giving blood. Isabelle wore her special shirt proclaiming,“I’m ALIVE Thanks To A Blood Donor.”

“The donors brought back memories for Isabelle,” said Rebekah Ratcliff, mom.
