1st-2nd Grade Lessons and Activities

First and second grade teachers have five activities available to teach students about community works while developing language arts and math skills.  All lesson plans document common core standards met.   

INTRODUCTORY LESSON:
The project’s introductory lesson provides teachers with a lesson plan, PowerPoint story, Who-What-When-Where-Why-How activity cards and letter-to-adult writing worksheet.

HOMEWORK INTERVIEW:
The interview with adult worksheet is an optional tool to help the student engage the family in the project.  Three different levels are available to support students with varied reading and writing skill levels.

TALLY LESSONS:
The tally lesson applies real world math to follow up on the introductory lesson, engaging the students in the measurement of cause and effect.

Each donor receives FREE: A yo-yo, health screenings, donor rewards points. Each student who recruits a blood donor through the Kids Care lesson assignment receives an awareness band.
